Serial 1 – Technical information about the e-bikes

Aluminum frame: Frame and forks are made from welded, hydroformed aluminum to be light and rigid, with geometry designed to meet the following requirements:
● maneuverable, agile handling in urban environments
● reliable control and comfort on bike paths and on rural back roads.

Integrated battery: The lithium-ion battery is integrated into the lower frame area and can be easily removed for charging outside the bike. It can also be charged on the bike via a charging port conveniently located on the bottom of the frame.

Mid-engine: The Brose S Mag mid-engine generates a torque of 90 Nm and offers sufficient power support to enable a quick start from a standstill and give the driver the confidence to conquer even demanding inclines. Center placement near the crank lowers the center of gravity and centers mass to optimize vehicle handling, while an electronic torque sensor automatically registers the pressure applied to the pedals.

This means that the appropriate electrical support power is immediately provided, making use significantly easier for all drivers. You don't need to turn the gas tap or do anything else - just pedal and drive off.

Walk Assist: A “walking aid” push-button function on the handlebar control unit provides minimal forward movement and makes it easier to
maneuver the e-bike at walking speed, especially when it
needs to be pushed up a hill or ramp.

Belt drive: The Gates Carbon Drive belt runs smoothly, quietly and is
largely maintenance-free. It does not require any regular lubrication or adjustment like a traditional chain drive. Plus, it never gets greasy or dirty.

Auto Manual Transmission: The intelligent Enviolo AUTOMATiQ automatic transmission is an electronically controlled CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) rear hub that automatically adjusts the gear ratio to maintain the rider's optimal, personalized cadence as terrain or speed changes. Fully enclosed and maintenance-free, it is available on select models.

Handlebar controls: Ergonomically arranged thumb and index finger controls on all models allow the rider to turn the e-bike on and off, change the riding mode, turn the integrated headlight on and off and turn on the walking aid without taking a hand off the handlebars having to take.

Serial 1 App Compatibility: When a smartphone with the Serial 1 app is paired with the Serial 1 e-bike via Bluetooth, this allows access to the rider's most important data. The launch of the Serial 1 app is planned for spring 2021.

Hydraulic disc brakes: The front and rear hydraulic disc brakes use 203 mm brake discs. The brake discs are designed to provide reliable braking performance in almost all riding conditions - an essential requirement for faster-moving e-bikes and for commuting in any weather.

Internally routed cables: Brake lines and electrical cables are routed through the frame. The protection from the elements and the clean, no-frills design ensure a longer lifespan and lower maintenance.

Integrated lighting: A bright LED headlight mounted on the handlebar stem illuminates the path ahead and makes the driver appear more conspicuous in the dark. The bright LED tail and brake lights integrated into the frame dropouts are designed to make the bike more visible from behind. Intelligent sizing: The frame geometry is optimized for each frame size to ensure a comfortable seating position and consistent handling across all rider sizes, regardless of the rider's height. The preferred riding position for the city bikes is upright to maximize the rider's comfort and awareness of the surroundings. Both frame geometry and contact points have been analyzed to ensure our size range is optimal for almost every customer.
