What a feeling
From July 26th to 28th, the Harley Days rocked Dresden, Saxony's capital
- Around 15,000 visitors enjoyed the event in Saxony's capital
- LiveWire on the Jumpstart driving simulator and premiere of the Lego Fat Boy
- Big parade with more than 500 bikes
(Neu-Isenburg, August 1st, 2019) From July 26th to 28th, Harley-Davidson to Dresden and around 15,000 guests accepted the invitation. They flocked to the eight-hectare festival site on the Rinne near the trade fair from all federal states and neighboring countries. The atmosphere in the Harley Village there was as relaxed as real bikers could only dream of.
Under the hot summer sun, we relaxed and sat down to enjoy the train of bikes arriving. People browsed through the wide range on offer at the dealer mile, where clothing and accessories could be found at more than 40 dealer stands, feasted on pulled pork on a 14 meter long smoker, enjoyed grilled and fried food at numerous other catering stands and got a lot of music to listen to.
Open air stage
Five bands let it rip on the open-air stage: alongside the formations Bonesetter, Free Bears, Hellabama Honky Tonks and Texas Music Massacre, Starfucker scored as one of the best Rolling Stones tribute bands in the country.
BIKE SHOW
But the actual headliners were called Harley-Davidson. The fact that none of them are the same was highlighted by the bike show on Saturday, where 45 machines lined up to win prizes in four categories. Around midday on Sunday, more than 500 bikes formed up for an impressive and acclaimed parade through the magnificent Elbe metropolis.
THE FAT BOY FROM LEGO
Also on board on a trailer: a Fat Boy, which was made in its original size from 69,569 Lego components. The fascinating unique piece was shown for the first time at Harley Days Dresden and caused a huge stir among both small and large Lego fans.
Anyone who assembled the matching, handy Lego mini model from 70 pieces as quickly as possible was even allowed to take their creation home with them.
THE LIVEWIRE ON THE JUMPSTART
LiveWire offered even more to talk about. The first electric motorcycle from a mass-produced manufacturer was available on the Jumpstart driving simulator. Anyone who wanted to experience the future of mobility on two wheels for themselves was allowed to get on and accelerate.
FREE TEST DRIVES
Of course, Harley-Davidson also exhibited its Street, Sportster, Softail and Touring models. Not only that - drivers' license holders got into the saddle for extensive test rides .
Those who arrived on their own motorcycles were able to take part in one of the two trips to Saxon Switzerland and Lusatia led by the Dresden Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, while the youngsters enjoyed the playground with trampoline, bumper cars, climbing castles and a number of other attractions.
HARLEY WINNER COMES FROM BERLIN
The event may have been particularly etched in the memory of a visitor from Berlin. Together with his partner, the lucky guy not only got tickets for the event in a competition, he also won the big prize in the charity raffle: a brand new Harley-Davidson Iron 883.
All proceeds from this raffle will benefit the Sonnenstrahl eV association, a support group for children and young people with cancer and their families.
Harley-Davidson is pleased with the success of the event and would like to thank the police and the city of Dresden for their great willingness to cooperate and their commitment.
The conclusion of the regional press: “A successful, relaxed festival with the best weather.” What else can be added to that?
