1. A look at the technology: powerful engine and chassis
A look at the technology: powerful engine and chassis. When it comes to the technology of the new Harley-Davidson Breakout 117, there is a lot to say. Let's start with the powerful engine: the proven Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine powers the current Breakout and offers a whopping 1,923 cc displacement and 106 hp. This makes the machine not only powerful, but also fast and agile.
It really takes off in the middle gears. I took it on the highway and stopped somewhere around the 124 mph mark. Harley-Davidson claims it has a top speed of 118 mph, but I didn't feel the limiter kick in. I would even say that it goes faster than that, but let's be honest, these speeds are not its comfort zone and it wasn't built for that.
But that's just the 177 engine for you—it always pulls hard when you twist the electronic throttle grip.

The chassis is excellent and provides optimal handling and remarkably good straight-line stability. Whether on winding roads or straight stretches, the Breakout can be controlled with precision. However, due to the 240 rear tire, it has to be pushed a little into the corners, which results in slightly different handling than when riding the Low Rider S, but that is precisely what makes it so special. The central shock absorber is concealed by the triangular swing arm, creating an old-school rigid frame look.
So if you're looking for a bike with power and performance, plenty of chrome, and great looks, you should take a closer look at the Harley-Davidson Breakout 117.
2. What's new in the 2023 model year Breakout
In 2023, the Harley-Davidson Breakout will come standard with an electronic cruise control feature, which Harley-Davidson calls Cruise Control. In addition, since summer 2023, it has been possible to order the Breakout 117 with optional electronic traction control.

Many parts that were previously black, such as parts of the exhaust, fender struts, side panels, turn signals, and rearview mirrors, are now chrome-plated. The lighting relies entirely on LED technology and features newly designed turn signals at the rear end, which have a uniform light circle for the rear and brake light functions.
3. The look of the new Breakout 117: modern, powerful, and cool
When it comes to the look of the new Harley-Davidson Breakout 117, you can't help but be amazed. Not only does the bike look modern and powerful, it's also incredibly cool. The chrome engine and powerful wheels make it an eye-catcher on any road. The design is aggressive and muscular, which perfectly matches the bike's performance.

The digital display is somewhat difficult to read in sunlight, at least when the numbers are small, so I sometimes didn't really know what gear I was in and had to rely on my instincts. On the other hand, the Breakout 117 looks simply stunning and makes every biker's heart beat faster, while the digital display in combination with the LED lights gives it a very modern look. The now larger tank makes it look even more powerful; with its thick tank, it simply looks like more of a motorcycle, as I already mentioned in the video about the Breakout on YouTube said.
4. Travel in comfort with the new Breakout
How comfortable it is to ride the Breakout 117.
Want to stand out on the road while also riding in comfort? The saddle, with its removable passenger seat, is truly outstanding and provides a comfortable riding experience even on longer trips. We can definitely say that it offers a high level of comfort, allowing you to enjoy a long Sunday ride without any discomfort.
The wide drag-style handlebars and comfortable seating position allow for hours of riding without back pain or tension. Even long distances are no problem for me with this machine! The perfect combination of performance and comfort makes the new Breakout a real highlight on the road. I am 1.83 m tall and it is perfect for me. If your legs are a little shorter, you could certainly consider moving the forward footrests so that it also suits shorter riders.
5. Conclusion: The new Harley-Davidson Breakout 117 perfectly combines performance and style in one package.
The new Harley-Davidson Breakout 117 combines performance and style. With its powerful engine and excellent chassis, it's technically top-notch! But the look of the new Breakout 117 is also impressive. Modern, powerful, and cool—these are the attributes that perfectly describe this machine. But it's not just its looks that are impressive; comfort is also a priority with the new Breakout. It allows you to ride comfortably and relaxed.
In summary, Harley-Davidson had a very good idea to equip the Breakout with the 117 engine and give it a large tank. It is already very close to perfection and is definitely on the shortlist for any biker looking for an extraordinary riding experience.
