THE NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON CVO ROAD GLIDE
THE ULTIMATE SYNTHESIS OF STYLE, POWER, AND TECHNOLOGY

H-D Connect and Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS) are on board

MILWAUKEE (February 3, 2020) – In 2020, the limited-edition CVO Road Glide will join the portfolio of premium bikes from Harley-Davidson's Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) program. Designed as a touring machine for the most discerning customers, it offers the ultimate synthesis of captivating style, uncompromising performance, and technology that provides optimal support for the rider.

In addition to the new CVO Road Glide, the CVO portfolio for the 2020 model year includes the CVO Limited, the CVO Street Glide, and the CVO Tri Glide trike.

Since its founding in 1999, Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations, a dedicated team of designers, engineers, and assemblers at Harley-Davidson's facilities, has been committed to creating exclusive factory custom bikes for the most discerning customers, often using finishes, materials, technologies, and accessories that are only available on CVO models. The Milwaukee-Eight 117—the largest displacement and most powerful engine offered on a Harley-Davidson from the factory—is also reserved for CVO models.

CVO Road Glide

The CVO Road Glide is a new, powerful touring machine that offers riders outstanding long-distance comfort, superior power delivery, and numerous rider assistance systems.

New features of the CVO Road Glide

  • H-D Connect (see below).
  • Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (see below).
  • Heated grips, shift pedal, brake pedal, exhaust end caps, driver's footboards, and passenger footrests from the Kahuna Collection of the Harley-Davidson Parts and Accessories Program. The surfaces of the Kahuna accessories are chrome-plated and partially rubberized. A red Bar & Shield logo completes the look of numerous components in this collection.
  • „Boom! Audio 30K Bluetooth helmet headset (see below).
  • Two-piece low-profile tank console with illuminated CVO logo.
  • Exclusive paintwork in Premium Sand Dune with metallic topcoat and subtle graphics, as well as a finish in Smoked Satin Chrome, Gloss Black, and Black Onyx. Wheels in Gloss Black and Smoked Satin. Heavy Breather air filter in Gloss Black.

Key features of the CVO Road Glide

  • The exclusive Knockout wheels each have seven double spokes that extend into the rims to visually enlarge the wheel diameter. The CVO Road Glide is currently the only Harley-Davidson touring model equipped with a 21-inch front wheel. Its fork has been retuned to match the large wheel size. An 18-inch wheel is used at the rear of the machine.
  • The „Fang“ front spoiler lowers the front of the CVO Road Glide visually and adds a fascinating custom feature to its look.
  • The CVO Road Glide's frame-mounted Sharknose fairing, developed in a wind tunnel, provides excellent aerodynamic properties and optimizes riding comfort. Thanks to the triple „Splitstream Vent“ air channels, turbulence in the rider's head area is effectively prevented. The „Daymaker“ LED dual headlight integrated into the fairing guarantees perfect illumination of the road in the dark.
  • To facilitate loading and unloading, the locks on both hard-shell cases can be easily opened and closed with one hand.
  • A Screamin„ Eagle Heavy Breather air filter increases the air supply to the combustion chambers and emphasizes the cool hot rod style.
  • The integrated Wireless Headset Interface Module (WHIM) allows Bluetooth headsets to be connected wirelessly to the Boom! Box GTS infotainment system.

CVO Motorcycle Technology

H-D Connect

This is a system that uses third-generation LTE mobile communications to connect to cloud services and the Harley-Davidson app. Thanks to H-D Connect, riders stay connected to their motorcycles even when they are physically separated..

Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS)

Harley-Davidson's electronic rider assistance systems (Reflex Defensive Rider Systems, RDRS) are a technology package designed to adapt acceleration and deceleration forces to the available tire grip. They are electronically controlled and based on state-of-the-art chassis, brake, and drive control technology. RDRS includes a cornering anti-lock braking system (C-ABS), cornering-optimized electronic brake force distribution (C-ELB), traction control (TCS), cornering traction control (C-TCS), drive slip control (DSCS), and vehicle hold control (VHC). Electronic brake force distribution (ELB) is also included as standard.

Wireless headset

The CVO Road Glide comes with a Boom! Audio 30k Bluetooth helmet headset for wireless connection to the onboard Boom! Box GTS infotainment system, which is based on state-of-the-art mesh intercom network technology. In Public Mode, this digital protocol automatically connects to several other riders within range.

In Private Mode, it enables a network connection with up to 16 drivers over a distance of up to eight kilometers. At the same time, the headset offers all the functions of a wired headset (hands-free function, navigation instructions, radio and music player, and voice guidance) and is compatible with Apple CarPlay requirements for microphones in the Boom! Box GTS infotainment system. Thanks to the fast-charging function, 20 minutes of charging time is enough to ensure up to five hours of talk time.

Boom! Box GTS with Boom! Premium Audio System

The Boom! Box GTS system is responsible for infotainment on board the CVO Road Glide. It features an amplifier with 150 watts per channel from two separate 300-watt power amplifiers (Stage II) and four speaker systems mounted in the fairing and in the saddlebags.

Its sharp 16.5 cm color touchscreen is equipped with extremely robust and glare-free Corning Gorilla Glass and is easy to read even in direct sunlight. Riders also benefit from the navigation system, Apple CarPlay compatibility, personalization options, and integration of Harley-Davidson app features. The infotainment system can be controlled via the touchscreen, the controls on the handlebars, or voice commands.
